CONCRETE RETARDER S-100 will delay the set of the surface mortar of fresh concrete, allowing the aggregate to be exposed. The concrete below the surface will cure normally. After application, CONCRETE RETARDER S-100 produces a film on the surface that slows surface drying, reducing the need for the use of plastic covering, except under conditions of high temperature.
TO USE: Wood float or trowel concrete surface to cover all stones. Apply CONCRETE RETARDER S-100 to concrete surface as soon as the surface water has disappeared from the concrete. Mix the product prior to using. Apply 1L of CONCRETE RETARDER S-100 per 4 square meters. Protect the treated surface from wind, rain and high overhead sun. After a 12-24 hour contact time, wash off the CONCRETE RETARDER S-100 and the unset mortar with a water broom or hose and broom. The washing will expose the aggregate.
The application of a sealer to protect the concrete surface is recommended.
NOTE: The amount of retardation required is a matter of personal preference and influenced by the conditions of use including temperature, cement type and slump. It is recommended that a trial run be made before each application to determine the time and depth of etch required. After spraying, the applicator should check the surface frequently and ensure that the concrete is washed when the desired exposure is obtained. Washing too soon can result in exposed aggregate being removed.
